Michigan parents have the right to home school their children.
Because they are not in public school, the child does not have a right to a FAPE and will not have an IEP. Some services (such as speech or physical therapy) may be provided through a nonpublic services plan (NPSP) but the services provided may be less than what your child would receive in a public school.

A homeschooled student can receive an evaluation for special education eligibility. A parent may refer the student suspected of having a disability for an evaluation through the local public school district where they reside. More on Evaluation.
